The new director has solid international experience and a strong network in both research and business.

Thore-Andre Thorsen (55) is from Arendal and comes from the position of CEO of the Yme Foundation, where he has also been CFO. He is a former project developer at Skanska and CFO at GRID-Arendal, and is looking forward to starting work.

– This is a unique opportunity to be able to strengthen Agder European Office’s initiatives further, together with highly competent colleagues. Agder European Office shall ensure that Agder can influence processes positively to the greatest extent possible, and that we are prepared for the changes that will come through various regulations. Furthermore, we will contribute to opening doors to financing and cooperation, locally, nationally, and internationally, says Thore-Andre Thorsen.

– Thorsen has experience in building small and medium-sized organizations. This will be useful now that Agder European Office is moving forward. He will understand the needs of the members and the region, and not least how the office should deliver on this in the future, says Agder European Office’s Chair of the Board, Ann Camilla Krogh.

The position had 46 applicants in total.

About the Agder European Office

Agder European Office was established 18th March 2024 and is a membership-based association. Today, the Office has the following members: the municipalities of Kristiansand, Arendal, and Grimstad, the county municipality of Agder, the University of Agder, and the research institute NORCE.

The Agder European office aims to:

• Contribute to value creation by increasing the success rate of actors from Agder in EU projects and other European funding schemes.
• Increase awareness and knowledge of EU/EEA-related matters in Agder.
• Safeguard and promote Agder’s interests in Brussels and build networks with partners across Europe.
• Serve as the gateway to EU cooperation in the region.
